Cosmetic products worldwide
The marketing of cosmetic products is subject to various regulations worldwide. For moisturising, cleaning or decorative cosmetic products, the legal foundations are different. The authorisation, notification and labelling are subject to no general laws, but are very diversified in different countries. In addition, individual cosmetics are subject to special procedures (e.g. sunscreens) or individual auxiliaries or additives have specific legal requirements. In some countries, there are positive lists for the ingredients, in other regions the banned ingredients are defined in a list of banned substances. Industry associations and international companies have their own lists of banned substances. It is often difficult to decide to which group of cosmetics a product belongs and which legal requirements are applicable to it. Sometimes, it turns out that it is not a cosmetic product, but a medical product or a detergent and cleaning agent, and must therefore comply with other legal requirements.
