ECHA Publishes Progress Report 2014

With its annual report, ECHA gradually wants to improve the quality of registrations. In the past year, the primary focus of its leadership was on the examination of proposals. It decided 129 cases, accepting the proposed tests without limitation and modifying at least one of the tests in 16 cases. It rejected all the proposed tests in only one case.

According to the ECHA inspectors, the contents of the dossiers has improved, which they see as the result of their changed compliance-check strategy. According to the new strategy, inspectors first take a targeted look at the information on substances with the greatest potential for danger and focus on exposure assessment and risk characterization, substance identity, prenatal developmental toxicity studies, subchronic toxicity studies, and physicochemical properties.
