Part B of REACH Guidelines Published

The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin (BauA)) has published the second part of the REACH Guidelines, Part B: Registration Dossier – Working with IUCLID (German only). Part A: First Steps (also in German) appeared at the end of December 2014. Part C: Requirements for 10-100 t/a will follow in a few months.

The authors of this newly published part lead readers through the creation of a registration dossier – for substances that are manufactured or imported in quantities smaller than 10 tons per year. The dossier is created with and in the International Uniform Chemical Information Database (IUCLID). The software application enables creation, storage, maintenance and exchange of data on chemical substances. Specifically, the guidelines address:

  • How is the IUCLID installed?
  • What type of dossier must be created? For example, are you a member of a Substance Information Exchange Forum (SIEF)?
  • What data is entered into specific IUCLID chapters and how is that done?
  • How can you check to see if the dossier is complete or if it contains discrepancies?
  • How is the registration dossier transmitted to the ECHA?

Please note that version 6 of the IUCLID applies at the start of 2016. At that time, the ECHA will accept registration dossiers only if they were created with the updated IUCLID.
