Singapore Issues RoHS Regulation

Singapore’s Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR) has issued an RoHS regulation that takes effect on June 1, 2017. Like the European Regulation, this directive restricts the use of cadmium, lead, mercury, and compounds thereof along with the use of hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.

The Singaporean regulation is targeted to fewer products than its European counterpart. It applies to mobile telephones, laptops, refrigerators, air conditioners, flat-screen televisions, and washing machines, but not to regular and rechargeable batteries or products used industrially.
