Taiwan Adapts GHS Standards

The Taiwanese Ministry of Labor has issued technical guidelines (in Chinese). The guidelines are intended for companies that produce or deal with dangerous substances in any way. The guidelines should enable such companies to comply with the national standard for the classification and labeling of hazardous substances. The standard is based on the specifications of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). It was published at the beginning of December and goes into force in January 2016.

According to the Ifo Institute for Economic Research (document in German), the economic performance of Taiwan will improve in the first half of 2016. The experts foresee growth in investment and private consumption. Ifo sees the most growth for the semiconductor industry.
