Turkey: REACH on Hold

The Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation (MoEU) has postponed publication of the Chemicals Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Limitation of Chemical Substances – KKDIK in its Turkish abbreviation), which is modeled on REACH and was originally planned for the end of 2016. Minister Yahya Kesimal states that the law should now appear in the first quarter of 2017.

Nonetheless, representatives from the industry doubt that the updated schedule can be met. Mustafa Bagan, general secretary of the Turkish Chemical Industry Association states that most companies lack the required data and the funds to register their products.
