Lithuania:
Government approves new chemicals law

In mid-February, the Lithuanian government approved the draft for the new chemicals law. With this initiative, the country aims to align the regulations on chemical substances and mixtures with the requirements of the applicable EU regulations (REACH, CLP, POP Regulation).

According to an advisor in the Lithuanian ministry, the new law serves to prevent legal disputes that would be inevitable if different laws were in place.

The draft law is expected at the beginning of spring. The law is due to come into force on November 1.
