REACH-EN-FORCE-14: EU inspectors test air fresheners and e-cigarettes

As part of its next REACH-EN-FORCE project (REF-14), ECHA plans to check whether air fresheners and e-cigarettes are correctly classified, labeled and child-resistant packaged in accordance with the CLP Regulation.

The inspections are expected to start in 2026. This was decided by the members of the ECHA Enforcement Forum at their meeting in mid-June.

In addition to legally compliant classification, labeling and packaging, the inspectors also inspect the reports to the poison control centers and the safety data sheets of the mixtures.

ECHA attaches particular importance to the project because CLP checks were already carried out in an earlier enforcement project (REF-6) and the inspectors found an average of four out of ten products to be non-compliant.
