UK-REACH: Defra publishes proposals for registration model and opens consultation
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is putting forward proposals for a model (Alternative Transitional Registration model, ATRm) to make it easier for companies to register substances in the UK.
Specifically, the aim is to relieve companies of the horrendous substance data costs that they would have to pay for substance registration. The government estimates these to be around two million pounds. The high costs could deter companies from registering and lead to a shortage of substances on the UK market.
The consultation lasts eight weeks and ends on July 11.
