REACH candidate list: ECHA adds further SVHCs
The ECHA has added five substances of very high concern to the REACH candidate list. These will now be included in the list of substances subject to authorization (Annex XIV, REACH Regulation).
The five substances are
- 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol: The substance is considered toxic for reproduction and persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT)
- 2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)phenol: The substance is classified as very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB)
- 2-(Dimethylamino)-2-[(4-methylphenyl)methyl]-1-[4-(morpholin-4-yl)phenyl]butan-1-one: The substance is toxic to reproduction.
- Bumetrizole: is considered to be very bioaccumulative (vPvB).
- Oligomerization and alkylation reaction products of 2-phenylpropene and phenol: These products are considered to be very bioaccumulative (vPvB).
As a manufacturer and/or importer of these substances, you will be subject to information obligations in future. Among other things, you must
- update the safety data sheets for these substances.
- to the ECHA SCIP database if your articles contain one of the substances in a concentration of more than 0.1% by mass.
