Detergents

The production and trade of detergents and cleaning agents have grown into a huge market with sales of several billion euros; in Germany alone, sales in 2018 amounted to 4,771 billion euros (source: Statistics – https://de.statista.com/themen/1473/wasch-und-reinigungsmittel/).

Many well-known manufacturers of household appliances already have a foothold on the market, selling washing and cleaning agents under their own brands and exporting them alongside their appliances all over the world.

However, a number of regulatory requirements must be met before detergents and cleaning agents can be placed on the market. In Europe, the Detergents Regulation (EC) No 648/2004 regulates the manufacturing and marketing requirements for detergents and cleaning agents. In addition, some European countries have set extended requirements for detergents and cleaning agents, as is the case for the German Detergents and Cleaning Agents Act (WRMG).

In the meantime, other countries and regions have also followed suit and introduced their own legislation for detergents and cleaning agents. Non-compliance with the requirements for both the raw materials and the products themselves can result in very high penalties and damage to the company’s image as a result of recalls.

Together with you and/or your suppliers, we check whether your product meets all the requirements for detergents and cleaning agents in the respective countries and/or regions and ensure that the framework is set for a successful market launch – worldwide.
