The ECHA is now providing companies with a new online tool, the EU Chemicals Legislation Finder (EUCLEF). An ECHA press release announced the availability of the tool. The initial version covers 40 laws, including regulations for toy safety, the use of certain dangerous chemicals in electric and electronic devices (RoHS), and on handling waste. An additional 16 laws are to be added in 2021.
The procedure is as follows: A user uses the search screen to select the desired chemical, and an overview of EU regulations affecting the chemical is displayed. The system stores data on all the chemicals that the ECHA manages according to the relevant regulations: REACH, CLP, BPR, PIC, and so on.
The tool will be “really helpful for companies, especially SMEs, who need to track their obligations across different EU laws,” says ECHA director Björn Hansen.
