EU Commission Reminds Authorities to Observe Deadlines

The European Commission has invited authorities that evaluate biocidal agents to submit all their draft competent authority reports (CAR) before the corresponding deadlines. If they are submitted past the deadline, the approval process would be extended unnecessarily.

A delay could mean that ECHA’s standing Biocidal Products Committee (BPC) would not, as intended, be able to develop an opinion on the agents at its last meeting in February 2016. The opinion of the ECHA committee is used by the European Commission to decide on approving an agent. The approval, however, is valid only for a specific period. It is never granted for a period longer than ten years, although it can be extended.

We have assisted companies through the entire process for many years. If you wish, we can handle all aspects of project management and communication with agencies. Please contact us at any time at biocides@kft.de.
