Brazil Seeks to Clarify the Presence of Hazardous Chemicals on the Market

The Brazilian Ministry of Environment wants to obtain an overview of the hazardous chemicals used industrially in the country and plans to monitor the imports and exports of these substances. International conventions already restrict or ban the use of these substances.

The project is scheduled to start in early 2023. The results will form the basis for the creation of a national chemicals inventory, which, in turn, will be a central component of the Chemicals Act. The draft legislation is already available, but two committees and the Senate must still approve it.
