Brexit Transfer: Companies Involved Must Update Their Registration Dossiers

Companies established in Great Britain have completed the transfer for their REACH registration to companies established in the EU, Northern Ireland, and the European Economic Area. By the conclusion of the transition period that ran out at the end of March 2021, more than 8,000 REACH registrations have been transferred. The ECHA reported the news in its press release of April 26

The companies involved are now obligated to inspect and update their dossiers. The legal basis for the obligation is Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1435, which took effect on December 11, 2020. Article 1 of the Regulation states, “Changes in a registrant’s status or in his identity: In the case of a change falling within point (a) of Article 22(1) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, the registration shall be updated and submitted to the Agency by no later than 3 months from the date when that change takes effect.”
