China Defines GHS Codes and Hazard Warnings

The Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China (SAC) has approved a standard for GHS codes and hazard warnings. The specifications covered in the standard go into effect on January 1, 2017.

Standard GB/T 32374‐2015: Phrase and Codification of Chemical Hazard Statements describes the valid pictograms and codes that will indicate physical dangers, such as possible explosions, along with hazards to health and the environment. The standard also defines the warnings that must be placed on the label, such as safety notices and notices about storage and safety precautions.

The specifications are based on the Fourth Revision of the GHS regulations issued by
