EU Expands REACH Restriction List
At the beginning of July, the EU added 24 substances to the REACH Restriction List (in Appendices 2 and 6 of Annex XVII) and announced the change by publishing Regulation 2023/1132 to modify Annex XVII of REACH.
All the CMR substances are classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic to reproduction as category 1A or 1B under the 18th Adaptation to Technical Progress (ATP) of the CLP Regulation.
The restrictions apply as of December 1, 2023.
The newly listed substances include:
- 2-ethylhexanoic acid and its salts
- Ammonium bromide
- 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol
- Theophylline
